The best iOS apps to shop for Black Friday deals

Last updated

The deal-grabbing frenzy known as Black Friday is just a few days away, and shoppers looking to nab the best deals on Apple products and accessories can get ahead of the game with a number of apps that help organize ads and track the best deals.

AppleInsider combed the App Store for software designed to help users track deals and sales throughout the holiday season, whether they're shopping from the comfort of their couch or plan to venture in the store. Here are the best apps we found:

Amazon

Keep track of when Amazon deals are about to start with Amazon app's Watch A Deal mobile alerts. Apple device users can also utilize the Package X-Ray portion of the app to see what's in a delivered box without having to open it.

Black Friday FM

Black Friday FM utilizes its website and experts to provide not just deals, but analysis and perspective to help users make the best purchasing decisions and find the best times to strike. It will tell users what types of sales and deals they can find in ads, unadvertised savings and a guide detailing how stores compete with each other.

The app tracks and publishes ads and lists "leaked" ads discovered online. A wish list feature is also included to help make the hectic shopping season a bit more manageable.

Black Friday 2016 Slickdeals

The Black Friday 2016 Slickdeals app helps users organize and sort various ads by company and store, including doorbusters and final markdowns. The app is powered by a community of more than 2 million members and has been around for 15 years. Users can also search by product, store or category to compare deals.

ShopSavvy

Users can use ShopSavvy to keep an eye out for discounts on products they want to purchase. A built-in barcode scanner and SKU finder helps track deals on specific products. Users can also track cash back offers from major retailers such as Target and Wal-Mart on their purchases.

Purchx

Formerly known as Consumr, Purchx lets users compare product prices and access a database of reviews on a wide range of products and accessories. Users can also earn rewards for reviews they add to the app. Developers recently enhanced the app with 3D Touch capabilities.

TGI Black Friday 2016

The TGI Black Friday 2016 app partners with users at DealCatcher who search, sort and share more than 10,000 deals across a wide range of shopping categories. Users can see the number of deals for every retailer and browse popular/new ads as they are reported. There's also the ability to track items and specific deals, which are then organized alphabetically based on originating stores and websites.

Wikibuy

Wikibuy is for all the Amazon lovers out there. The app will search the internet while you shop on Amazon to compare prices with other sellers like Walmart, Target, eBay, Jet and other shopping sites. It'll do the leg work on confirming availability, price, taxes and shipping, as well as test coupon codes for the same item that's been searched for on Amazon to see if a better deal is available elsewhere.

So whatever happened to Cyber Monday?
Is it no longer "a thing"?

Was it ever really a thing?

As I understand it, the idea was that people would only get around to online shopping when they got back to work. Something to do with people having better internet at work than at home.

It's all marketing anyway.
