The hunt for John Wilkes Booth after he assassinated President Lincoln, is being made into a mini-series for Apple TV+, starring Tobias Menzies.

Based on James Swanson's 2007 non-fiction book, "Manhunt" charts the 12 day search for Booth as he fled Washington for the forests of Virginia. The book is actually an hour by hour reconstruction of the hunt, with details taken from trial records and rare archive material.

According to Variety, Apple has ordered the limited series from Monica Beletsky, and is the company's first order since renewing a production deal with her. Writer and executive producer Beletsky is best known for her work on the television version of "Fargo," and "I Am the Night."

Tobias Menzies is said to be starring as Edwin Stanton, who was Lincoln's friend as well as War Secretary. It follows how Stanton was reportedly driven almost to madness by the hunt.

I'm sure this will be another excellent program.
But with so many of our politicians and election officials receiving death threats from radicalized extremists / domestic terrorists these days, its timing couldn't be worse.  Or is it "couldn't be better?" because this needs to be addressed -- and our government agencies obviously are not up to the task.  It's really up to the people of this country if we will continue to tolerate such third world behavior.

In hope they start off with the famous quote, “Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?”
