HomeKit Insider

On the latest episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, Jennifer Pattison Tuohy joins us to discuss the new Switchbot Door Lock, the Leviton Fan Speed Controller, and much more.

With Stephen unavailable for the week, Jennifer Pattison Tuohy joins Andrew as a guest host to chat about all things smart home. The pair starts off with Leviton's new Wi-Fi-connected fan controller.

The Leviton Decora Fan Controller allows you to easily adjust the speed on your fan up and down via Apple Home. it joins the rest of the recently-updated Decora line that includes dimmers, switches, and wireless remotes.

In other news, Switchbot released a new smart door lock that integrates with Siri Shortcuts. While there isn't native HomeKit integration for the peripheral, there are ways the devices can work together. It includes a fingerprint reader, NFC support, a passcode option, and more.

Your hosts also discuss the upcoming SmartMi Air Purifier P2. This new Apple Home-compatible purifier is battery powered so you can move it throughout your home.

Finally, we revisit the recent Wemo dimmer switch that launched with Thread support but hasn't promised support for Matter. We ponder whether it makes a difference to HomeKit users in the long term.
