Logitech Crayon vs Apple Pencil 2: Which should you buy?

Logitech Crayon vs Apple Pencil 2: Which should you buy?

The Logitech Crayon is a great alternative to Apple's Pencil. When it was first announced last year at Apple's Chicago event, The Logitech Crayon was only compatible with Apple's entry-level 9.7" iPad. With the release of iOS 12.2 all of that changed and the Logitech Crayon now supports all of Apple's 2018 iPad lineup, including the iPad mini 5, iPad Air 3, and both the 11" and 12.9" iPad Pro.Grab the Apple Pencil 2 on Amazon https://amzn.to/2XskBiGOr pick up the Logitech Crayon https://amzn.to/2IBaeWbGrab the lowest prices on Apple hardware:Macs - https://prices.appleinsider.com/current_geniPads - https://prices.appleinsider.com/ipadApple Watches - https://prices.appleinsider.com/apple_watchAirPods - https://prices.appleinsider.com/apple-airpodsFollow us on social media:Twitter - https://twitter.com/appleinsider/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/AppleInsiderdotcom/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/appleinsider_official/Download our iOS app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/appleinsider/id578462575—For all the Apple tech news you'll ever need, visit appleinsider.comOur video gear https://kit.com/AppleInsider/video-production——New here? Keynote Roundup: Watch Apple roll out the iPhone SE and 9.7" iPad Pro

Keynote Roundup: Watch Apple roll out the iPhone SE and 9.7" iPad Pro

Apple's annual springtime media event is in the books, and the company brought out two blockbusters in the powerful iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Watch as recaps the announcements and shows some new hands-on footage. In what was likely the last town hall presentation at its current Cupertino headquarters, Apple unveiled the revamped 4-inch iPhone SE and the powerful 9.7-inch iPad Pro on March 21, and AppleInsider was there live to go hands-on with the devices after CEO Tim Cook left the stage. The main event was the smaller iPad Pro, which actually outperforms the larger 12.9-inch pro in a number of key ways. Most notably, the new True Tone display adjusts the white point of the tablet screen, compensating for the lighting of the environment around it. This is a big deal for photographers and professionals who work in imaging, because you'll be able to view content in the way it's intended, no matter where you work. The new iPad Pro also has better cameras than the larger model, headlined by a 12.9-megapixel iSight camera that now has dedicated flash. Inside there's the speedy, desktop-class A9X processor, and storage capacities that now go up to a whopping 256 gigabytes.Enhancements from the 12.9-inch iPad Pro have also been brought down to the smaller form factor, including a four-speaker surround sound array, Apple Pencil support, and the magnetic Smart Connector with optional Smart Keyboard accessory. The new iPad Pro starts at $599 for 32 gigabytes of storage.Apple also went smaller with its latest iPhone refreshing, giving the 4-inch form factor some love with its new iPhone SE. With the same A9 processor and 12-megapixel camera as the flagship iPhone 6s, Apple is boasting that the iPhone SE is the most powerful 4-inch iPhone ever.Outside, it looks mostly like an iPhone 5s, though Apple did add a rose gold color option to the lineup. On the inside, Apple has added support for Apple Pay, meaning users will be able to add their credit cards and use contactless payments at supporting kiosks.Apple's still got a full-fledged next-generation "iPhone 7" in the works for later this year, likely in September. But the iPhone SE is expected to act as a stopgap between now and then, catering to customers who prefer a more pocketable form factor.AppleInsider will have much more on the iPad Pro and iPhone SE in the coming weeks, including our full review. How to use Apple's new Night Shift mode in iOS 9.3

How to use Apple's new Night Shift mode in iOS 9.3

Starting with the launch of iOS 9.3, newer Apple devices have gained a feature called Night Shift, which changes the color tones of your iPhone or iPad display to a warmer hue. The reason for this is backed by actual science: research has shown that lights with blue-ish hues help to keep you awake at night by suppressing the production of melatonin. By shifting to a color tone with more yellow and red, Night Shift can actually help you get a better night's sleep.Manually turning Night Shift on or off on a device running iOS 9.3 is simple enough: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to invoke Control Center, and you'll find a new Night Shift quick access button at the bottom, right in between access to the timer and calculator.Power users may want more advanced control of Night Shift, however, and Apple has thankfully included customization options in iOS 9.3. Simply open the Settings app and choose "Display & Brightness," where the new Night Shift menu can be found. From there, users can schedule it to run at certain times, just like with Apple's Do Not Disturb feature. The automated scheduling for Night Shift also allows users to have it turn on by default at sunset, and turn off when the sun rises. This uses localized sunrise and sunset times based on the user's location and time zone.Apple also gives the ability to adjust the color temperature to a user's liking. With a slider setting, the display colors can be made more or less warm.Night Shift is available on the iPhone 5s or later, iPad Pro, iPad Air or later, iPad mini 2 or later, and the sixth-generation iPod touch.
