Apple's 27-inch iMac Pro is on sale at Amazon and B&H with a discount of $500 off, making the final price $1,500 cheaper than the upcoming Mac Pro. AppleInsider is breaking down the benefits of the iMac Pro vs the Mac Pro, and how to take advantage of the cash savings.
iMac Pro or Mac Pro?
There are several advantages to choosing the 27-inch iMac Pro vs the Mac Pro, starting with the included display. Apple's 5K display in the iMac Pro offers 5120 x 2880 resolution for an all-in-one solution that takes up less space than a mid-sized tower case paired with a separate monitor.
Priced at $4,499 due to a limited-time $500 markdown at B&H and Amazon, the standard iMac Pro is equipped with a 3.2GHz 8-core Intel Xeon W processor and 32GB of 2666MHz DDR4 ECC memory. The all-in-one desktop also has a spacious 1TB SSD and Vega 56 graphics with 8GB of HBM2 memory.

A 10Gb Ethernet port is also included with the iMac Pro, aiding in future proofing the machine, and there are four Thunderbolt 3 ports to connect peripherals. The system itself, along with the corresponding Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad and Magic Mouse 2, come in the sleek Space Gray color.
To compare prices between the Mac Pro and iMac Pro, the upcoming Mac Pro starts at $5,999, a $1,500 increase over the iMac Pro deal. It also doesn't include a display, with 5k displays running at least $450.
The iMac Pro discount is valid for a limited time only, with Amazon matching B&H's markdown today, according to the AI iMac Pro Price Guide. Shoppers can also save on sales tax in eligible states with B&H's Payboo Credit Card, putting another $360 back in your wallet on average. Prices do tend to fluctuate rapidly and the $4,499 price may change at any time.
