Apple on Monday revealed that its 2020 Apple Design Awards event will be held on June 29 and that developer labs will be conducted via Webex audio calls.

The annual Apple Design Awards is a special event meant to recognize and highlight innovative apps on Apple's platforms. Generally, the event takes place during WWDC week, as was the case in both in 2019 and 2018.

In a slight update to its WWDC 2020 website, Apple has announced that 2020's design awards will take place on Monday, June 29. That's a full week after the weeklong event kicks off and a break from WWDC tradition. The company didn't note a specific time slot, however.

"Join us in celebrating the developers who used their ingenuity, smarts, and savvy to build this year's Apple Design Award winners," Apple said of the event. Apple Design Award winners receive a physical aluminum cube trophy, as well as a bundle of Apple products and accessories.

The company also detailed how one-on-one developer labs will be held virtually this year. Specifically, the by-appointment labs will take place over a Webex audio call and will last between 10 to 55 minutes.

Developers will be able to share their screen with an Apple engineer if wanted, though any type of recording is prohibited.

The Developer labs will take place between June 23 and June 26. Appointments are made one day, and are open to Apple Developer Program, Apple Developer Enterprise Program and Swift Student Challenge winners.
