On the latest HomeKit Insider Podcast episode, we take a look at SwitchBot's new vacuums, bemoan the addition of ads to our existing devices, and daydream about possible new AI capabilities for Apple Home.

SwitchBot announced two new cleaning bots that it has added to its collection — the S20 and the K11+. They're the successors to the S10 and K10+ models respectively.

The S20 has 20,000Pa of suction, a V-shaped brush to prevent tangling, and a RinseSync roller mop that is continuously cleaned as it goes. It connections to standalone or plumbed versions of the charging dock that also has heated drying and auto-emptying.

The K11+ has a more compact charging dock than the K10+ and has a wooden top. The vacuum has double the suction as before for improved cleaning.

Ultimately, they both support Matter 1.4 to enable native support in Apple Home. Matter 1.4 will include room selection, mode switching, and more.

In other news, Samsung has rolled out a pilot program to introduce ads on its Family Hub refrigerators. It highlights a growing trend in the industry to inject advertisements into products as seen my Roku, Amazon, and now Samsung devices.

Google has been teasing the rollout of Gemini into Google Home in October, but there have been additional leaks ahead of that. This time, we saw an early version of the new Google Home app that has new features and appears to be winding down the Nest branding.

The big question will be what Gemini's abilities will be. It would be amazing to ask Siri "Can you have the under bed lights to turn on every weekday morning at 7AM" and have Apple Home automatically create that automation.

Meross has two new products this week. There is a new $80 Matter thermostat that should be compatible with Apple's new Adaptive Temperature mode and a smoke detector that requires a Matter hub for $45.

Finally, Kwikset has a new door lock. The Halo Select Plus deadbolt works over Wi-Fi or Matter over Thread and supports Apple Home Key.
