Apple has made the first developer beta version of macOS Tahoe 26.2 available for downloadm, a day after beta versions of iOS 26.2, iPadOS 26.2, watchOS 26.2, tvOS 26.2, and visionOS 26.2 were made available.
This release is the beginning of a new round of beta updates for developers to test their apps against. The macOS Tahoe 26.1 update was only made available to the public on November 3, leaving developers little time off.
This first macOS 26.2 beta carries the build number 25C5031i and is available for download via the System Settings app. Developers should ensure that they are signed into the correct Apple ID and have beta updates enabled.
Apple's other beta releases included the following build numbers:
- iOS 26.2 beta 1 is build 23C5027f
- iPadOS 26.2 beta 1 is build 23C5027f
- watchOS 26.2 beta 1 is build 23S5280e
- visionOS 26.2 beta 1 is build 23N5279e
- tvOS 26.2 beta 1 is build 23K5029e
It's too early to say what this new beta has to offer in terms of new features, but it's expected that the Podcasts and Clock apps will receive new features.
We at AppleInsider, as well as Apple, strongly recommend against users installing beta operating systems or beta software onto primary or "mission-critical" hardware, due to the persistent risk of data loss. Beta participants should instead use secondary or less critical hardware, and have sufficient backups of their data at all times.
Those on the public beta program should expect this initial macOS 26.2 beta to be made available within days — assuming no show-stopping bugs or other issues are identified before then.
