Apple has marked the reopening of its Sainte-Catherine store in Montreal by sharing photographs of the first customers to enter the historic storefront.

Apple Sainte-Catherine has taken quite a while to move locations after its initial announcement in April 2024. While later than its initial expected completion in February 2025, the store finally reopened on January 16.

As part of its opening celebrations, Apple published photographs of the grand opening, complete with the appearance of Apple SVP of Retail and People, Deirdre O'Brien.

"For nearly 20 years, we've been proud to be part of the downtown Montreal community, whose spirit of creativity and innovation continues to inspire us," said O'Brien. "We're incredibly excited to build on this long-standing relationship and create a destination where our customers can experience the very best of Apple, from our innovative products to the expert care and support of our amazing team.

The new Apple Sainte-Catherine is now in a historic building on the corner of Sainte-Catherine Street West and Rue de la Montagne. The location is an expansion from the old storefront, with it now double the size following the move.

The photographs Apple posted show a large store with a massive open space, littered with square columns. The facade uses local granite for the facade, while local copper artisans worked to restore the cornice on top of the building itself.

The signature Apple Store wooden tables are provided at various heights as part of the store's accessibility elements. Access routes have also been planned to give wheelchair users more room to navigate the store.

At the back is the Apple Pickup area, as well as the Genius Bar. The store itself also employs nearly 200 specialists, covering dozens of languages.

For the opening, Montreal-based illustrator and designer Catherine Potvin leads live iPad art demos, which were held on Friday and continue into Saturday. Potvin is also illustrating Apple retail bags for customers.

Apple currently operates 28 retail stores across Canada. Including the reopened store, five of them are in Quebec.

This is not the only store in existence known as Apple Sainte-Catherine. There's another in Bordeaux, France.
