On this week's episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, we cover more rumors on Apple's smart home display, Sony's TV venture with TCL, as well as the rest of the week's news.
Joining this week is Eric from Modern Day Tech, a YouTube channel covering the smart home and popular Bluetooth trackers, including those integrated with Apple Find My. He just wrapped his CES and it's worth a look!
Starting the news this week, we have The Information out with more rumors surrounding Apple's smart home hub. This time, there is back and forth as some elements, like the swivel base, are debated by other analysts.
Sony has announced it is ceding the TV space, creating a joint venture with TCL that sees the latter taking 51% ownership. It will continue selling TVs under the Bravia brand, but we will have to wait and see how the quality holds up.
SmartSetup has announced a new Matter-over-Thread smart lock. This Mortise-style lock supports facial recognition, fingerprint, key code, and NFC with a screen on the inside to act as a digital peephole.
Finally, Netatmo has released its first new products in years. It has shown off its new Thermo line of connected devices.
There is a thermostat that can go wireless or can be hardwired into the wall. Then there is a radiator valve to help cover more home setups.
Both will work with Matter using the Netatmo Thermo Hub, therefore bringing them into the Home app. They look nice, with clean, simple designs.
