According to sources, Apple has quietly been preparing a minor update to Mac OS 9.0, which is currently version numbered Mac OS 9.0.1. The release, which will fix some outstanding bugs with Mac OS 9.0, was rumored to have been code-named "Duet" earlier in its development cycle but now retains the "Minuet" nickname.

The release is said to go Golden Master sometime before the end of the year and is expected to ship in January. Minuet will also boast support for Pismo, Apple's next-generation PowerBooks, and should ship with those units. The release is expected to be made available via Apple's new Software Update feature of Mac OS 9.0.

More information will be published when it becomes available.
