Algoriddim djay Pro comes to Mac, TurboTax debuts new iOS app for tax season

Popular music tool djay Pro has made the leap from iOS to OS X with a new app on the Mac App Store, competing with the likes of Traktor. In addition, TurboTax on Thursday introduced an all-new iOS app ahead of tax season, allowing taxpayers to conveniently file wherever they are.

djay Pro for Mac

At a special introductory price of $49.99, Algoriddim's day Pro on the Mac App Store debuted on Thursday, offering musicians a complete toolkit for performances. The application's interface offers integration with both Apple's iTunes and Spotify, mixable with four decks, audio effects, and hardware integration.

The application's DJ interface features turntables, waveforms, four decks, and a sampler. The decks can be arranged in horizontal or vertical layouts with custom crossfader assignments, while similar levels of customization are also available with the waveform layouts.

With Spotify integration, DJs can instantly access over 20 million songs in the form of playlists, songs, charts, or a general browse feature. Cloud-based song recommendations are also available powered by The Echo Nest, and tracks can also be dragged and dropped from the Spotify app.

djay Pro for Mac is built for OS X as a native 64-bit application optimized for Retina displays. It can even take advantage of up to 24 processing threads on a 12-core Mac Pro, and includes multi-touch input, iCloud integration, keyboard shortcuts and more. Tracks can be recorded as AAC or WAV, and can be exported to iTunes.

For hardware input, djay Pro supports over 50 MIDI controllers and advanced MIDI learn. The app also boasts support for multi-channel USB audio interfaces, and support for external audio input and microphones.

djay Pro follows in the footsteps of the popular djay apps available for iPad and iPhone. Its launch on the Mac places it in direct competition with more well known DJ tools for OS X, like Traktor, which is not available on the Mac App Store. Traktor Pro 2 sells direct from developer Native Instruments for $99.

TurboTax

Also launching on Thursday is an all-new TurboTax application from Intuit, available as a free download on the iOS App Store. Designed for both iPhone and iPad. TurboTax Tax Preparation allows users to start their filing for free and pay when they file.

Using simple swipes and taps, TurboTax aims to make it easy for users to file their taxes ahead of the April deadline in the U.S. The app even allows users to snap a photo of their W-2 and answer simple questions to e-file securely from their iPhone, iPad or computer.

Intuit says that TurboTax users don't need any tax knowledge, as the application asks simple questions and coaches them every step of the way. Key features include:
