Apple activates free next-day deliveries for last minute Christmas shoppers

Continuing a holiday tradition, Apple on Monday announced it will offer free next-day delivery on in-stock items ordered through its online store on Dec. 23, giving holiday shoppers one more alternative for last minute Christmas gifts.

Advertised on nearly every major product landing page on Apple's website, the gratis next-day shipping option is available to all comers and applies to any in-stock product. Unfortunately, the shipping rate does not apply Apple's hot-selling AirPods.

Orders placed from now until 2 p.m. on Dec. 23 are eligible for next-day delivery, meaning customers will receive their order by Christmas Eve. It is unclear if the 2 p.m. deadline refers to a customer's local time zone, though Apple announcements usually relate to PST.

Apple currently offers free overnight shipping on iPhone orders, but normally charges for the fast delivery option with other products like Mac and iPad.

In addition to next-day delivery, customers can pick up online orders at Apple brick-and-mortar stores. Last year, the company promised product availability of in-stock items up to two hours prior to an outlet's closing time on Dec. 24. Whether that same guarantee is in effect this year is unknown.

Alternatively, Apple offers same-day courier deliveries, usually within two hours, in select metropolitan areas via Postmates for an additional $19 fee.

Aside from Apple, Authorized Apple Resellers are also offering free next-day delivery on Macs, iPads, Apple TV and more. For example, B&H Photo is including free overnight delivery on a wide range of Macs, up for sale with the lowest prices and no tax outside of New York.
