Apple today began shipping its AirPort Express Base Stations to customers two days ahead of its promised deadline. Customers who were the first to place pre-orders for the product back in June, began receiving shipment notifications from Apple earlier this morning.

The AirPort Express is Apple's latest portable device offering 802.11g wireless networking functionality as well as digital and analog outputs, allowing users to wirelessly stream music from a Mac or PC to a home stereo using iTunes 4.6.

As previously reported, Taiwanese manufacturer Hon Hai has been contracted by Apple to produce the AirPort Express. Airbills received by AppleInsider this morning confirm that the first shipments of the portable base station began departing from Chiang Kai Shek (CKS) International Airport in Taiwan last night.

Customers should begin receiving their AirPort Express units in the States on July 15 or 16th, according to sources. The Express will reportedly ship with a new version of Apple's AirPort software, rumored to be version 4.0.

Meanwhile, MacNN confirms that the first batch of 20-inch aluminum Apple Cinema Displays have also begun to make their way to customers, and should touch down at their destinations within the week. Unfortunately, the publication provides no word on shipments of the company's 23 or 30-inch High Definition displays.

Apple introduced the new Cinema Display product line last month at its World Wide Developer Conference. The new flat-panel displays feature an ultra-thin bezel aluminum frame as well as a new connector that features FireWire 400, USB 2.0 and DVI connectors that merge into a single display cable.
