After many years as a bystander, Apple's rapid social media expansion continued Thursday with the launch of @AppleSupport on Twitter, a new account designed to offer users tips and tricks for their Apple products.
The new account kicked off with a quick tutorial covering the iOS Notes app, showing users how to turn lists into checklists. Anyone with a question can tweet at the account — it's also open to DMs — or mark their tweet with #AppleSupport.
@AppleSupport is the second dedicated Twitter helpline operated by Apple; Apple Music users have been able to tweet @AppleMusicHelp since the streaming service's debut.
Apple famously stood on the social sidelines for years, rarely venturing onto public platforms in an official capacity. That has changed since CEO Tim Cook took the reins, and adoption accelerated following the acquisition of socially-savvy Beats.
Aside from the relatively new official accounts, company executives like Cook and software and services chief Eddy Cue have become regulars on Twitter.
