Kwikset Premis Contemporary HomeKit smart lock now available after CES debut

Kwikset Premis in Satin Nickel

The Premis is a HomeKit-compatible smart lock that is widely distributed amongst home improvement stores. It features an external keypad that can be programmed with up to 30 unique codes, a comprehensive lock history to see who locked/unlocked the door when and how, and can be easily scheduled. Push notifications regarding the lock's status can also be sent to user devices.

Thanks to HomeKit support, it can be integrated with any other HomeKit accessories such as lights or built in to scenes. The lock can also be controlled using your voice with Siri.

Kwikset has integrated several security features into the lock such as the option to trigger an alarm when an incorrect code is entered three times. It also has a feature known as SecureScreen which provides additional security by employing random digits before entering a key code to prevent fingerprint and code detection on the touchscreen surface.

Tuesday's release gives Premis owners several options to choose from when picking out their lock. The traditional model that has been available has curved, beveled edges and is available in Satin Nickel and Venetian Bronze. The new Premis Contemporary is boxier and more modern looking with Iron Black and Satin Nickel as colorways.

AppleInisder first checked out the updated Premis Contemporary at CES 2019 where Kwikset debuted the model alongside the Halo and Aura smart locks.
