Two ads from Apple partner TBWA\Media Arts Lab were nominated for Outstanding Commercial Emmys on Tuesday, potentially marking the last year in which the company has no original TV shows up for awards.
The nominated ads are "Shot on iPhone XS — Don't Mess With Mother," and "Behind the Mac — Make Something Wonderful." The first is a BBC-like montage of plants, animals, and natural events, while the latter is simply a series of black-and-white stills showing people using Macs, among them celebrities like Paul McCartney and Malala Yousafzai.
In all only five ads are up for Outstanding Commercial, including Apple's pair.
Earlier this year Apple began forming a team to put video in front of Oscar and Emmy voters in anticipation of this fall's launch of Apple TV+. Awards don't necessarily increase the viewership of winning material but are often sought as a mark of prestige, especially by studios and streaming platforms hoping to establish credibility.
The 2019 Emmys ceremony is slated for Sept. 22, beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Fox.

Good stuff.
I had front row for Illinois State Fair before Megadave of “Last Rites/Loved to Deth” fame announced he has throat cancer. Bah! Bah, I type!
Beautiful ads both of them. Hard to believe the nature one is all shot on iPhone.
