Eve Weather review, Apple smart display, and more on HomeKit Insider

HomeKit Insider: A new AppleInsider podcast

On this week's HomeKit Insider podcast, Andrew and Stephen talk about a possible Apple smart display, review the Eve Weather, and tackle a backlog of listener questions.

This week was fairly light on HomeKit-specific news, with the biggest being the release of a new app that says it will change the color of your Hue lights based on your mood.

We spend a good portion of time devoted to our review of the Eve Weather and comparing it to the Netatmo weather station. While the Eve Weather is now officially shipping, it is on backorder for a few weeks.

Following that, we discuss what we want to see from an Apple smart display how this could be great for HomeKit-equipped smart homes.

Listener questions

As last week's interview episode was full up, this week was dedicated to a wide variety of listener questions that had been building up.

Chris Powers asked us how best to use HomeBridge to allow his Alexa devices to work with HomeKit as well for his split household.

David Findley inquired if Ecobee and Nest were close to adding support for HomeKit. While Ecobee is already a long-time supporter of HomeKit, there is a way to make Nest work as well.

Jeffery wanted to know if we had any experience with Leviton switches and how they held up against the other models.

Finally, Brian Masck was curious about HomeKit garage door openers and which one was best.

Stay tuned for more!
