New Today at Apple session explains how to take expressive pet portraits on iPhone

Latest Today at Apple covers pet portrait photos

Join pet photographer Sophie Gamand on how to capture expressive pet portraits with iPhone in the latest Today at Apple video.

The ten-minute video features Apple employee Jahmyra and photographer Sophie Gamand. They explain how to use different portrait modes, angles, and focuses to create great pet photos.

This session uses the iPhone and standard camera app. Photos are taken using the zoom lens, portrait mode, and various filters.

Gamand shares three simple steps that help capture energetic pets.

  • Step 1: Get on their level
  • Step 2: Tune into the animal's energy
  • Step 3: Let personalities shine with extras

Each step highlights unique features found on iPhone that users may not know about. The obvious camera modes and portrait mode are highlighted throughout, but other features like Live Photo and Shortcuts are also mentioned.

Apple has multiple sessions covering anything from looping videos to portrait photography. The video sessions can be found on Apple's YouTube channel.

The "Today at Apple" YouTube series debuted in July as a part of Apple's push to bring the sessions online. Before the pandemic, customers could attend daily classes in the Apple Store to learn how to use their devices. Now, Apple offers both in-store and online sessions for those interested.
