Apple releases first trailer for 'The Afterparty' comedy mystery

Tiffany Haddish in "The Afterparty"

A first trailer for Apple TV+ comedy murder mystery, "The Afterparty," has been released ahead of the show's debut in January, 2022.

Sixteen months after it commissioned "The Afterparty" series, Apple TV+ has now revealed a one-minute teaser trailer for the show. From writers Chris Miller and Phil Lord, creators of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," it concerns a murder at a high school reunion's afterparty.

The eight-part mini series is to be told in a "Rashomon"-style format, with the same events recounted in each episode, but from different characters' perspectives.

As well as the story being colored by the character's opinion, concerns, and often also guilt, the look of the episodes will change too. Each edition will be in a different movie genre, and shot in a different visual style.

Tiffany Haddish, from "Girls Trip," plays the central character of Detective Danner. The partygoers, school friends, and suspect, include Ben Schwartz, best known as Jean-Ralphio in "Parks and Recreation."

The series also stars Sam Richardson, Zoe Chao, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, Dave Franco, Jamie Demetriou, and John Early. Apple's new trailer confirms that it will begin streaming from January.
