'Ted Lasso' fake dating app Bantr brought to life - sort of

'Ted Lasso' promotion with Bumble makes Bantr real, sort of

Bantr Live is a Bumble in-app event based on the dating app in Apple TV+ comedy "Ted Lasso," starting October 13.

The dating app event is a promotion for the popular Apple TV+ show "Ted Lasso." It is based on the fictional dating app called Bantr that is featured in the series.

Bumble is setting up the event like a game. Every Thursday from October 13 to the end of 2022, users will log in at 7 pm local time to participate.

Users will be matched with one other "player" automatically, at random. This person will match up with the user's location, age, and gender preferences, but the only visible thing on their profile is their name.

Players will have three minutes to chat without the ability to see profile information or share photos. At the end of the three minutes, players will be asked if they'd like to match with the other player. If both players tap "yes," then they will be matched.

Bumble has provided some tips for using the feature to its fullest.

Bantr is a dating app that takes a prominent role in "Ted Lasso." Its gimmick is that users cannot see photos of the other person, and can only chat via text.

If Bumble users aren't signed up for Apple TV+, they will be given the opportunity to get two months free from within the app. This offer will appear when matching with the Bantr Live profile.

"Ted Lasso" is a comedy series on Apple TV+. The entire first two seasons are available to stream by subscribers. Subscriptions cost $4.99 per month or are available via any tier of the Apple One subscription bundle.
