On this week's episode of the HomeKit Insider podcast, your hosts review the Thread-enabled SmartWings shades, talk about the Switchbot lock adding Apple Home support through Matter, making home scenes for vacation time, and more!
This week, the Remo Nano IR blaster has been updated to bring support for Matter. With Matter support, it will work natively with the Apple Home app to control any IR-supported devices you may have around your home such as fans or set top boxes.
Similarly, the SwitchBot door lock was also updated with Matter. SwitchBot has moved several of their products to Matter, bringing HomeKit support for the first time.
We also review the SmartWings Thread-enabled shades. These shades are custom made for your home and work with Apple Home like the Hunter Douglas, Eve MotionBlinds, and Lutron Caseta.
We round out the episode with discussion on naming your Apple TVs, some scenes for vacation, and a follow up on our Level Lock question from last week's episode.
