iPhone 15 USB-C connectors shown in claimed leak

Last updated

An image purporting to show USB-C connectors for the iPhone 15 range has been leaked, further backing up claims that the Lightning port will go.

It is as close to certain that the iPhone 15 range will replace Lightning with USB-C as it can be, what with analysts like Ming-Chi Kuo insisting it will — and the EU demanding it happen soon.

Now a new image from two leakers on X (aka Twitter), purports to show the USB-C charging port components for the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

There are no further details, nor confirmation of where the components came from — or why there doesn't appear to be one for the iPhone 15 Pro. Plus while two Twitter accounts posted the image, one was from a leaker known for fake leaks.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 15 range around September 12, 2023.

The company has long switched from Lightning to USB-C for the iPad. However, in the case of the iPhone it and all smartphone manufacturers have come under pressure from the European Union to adopt USB-C as a single standard, meaning users will be able to more easily use other people's charging cables.
