Apple TV+ renews period drama 'The Buccaneers' for second season

Apple TV+ has renewed "The Buccaneers," a drama based on Edith Wharton's unfinished novel started in the 1930s, for a second season.
The series follows a group of young American women who visit 1870s London, causing a culture clash as the land of the stiff upper lip is challenged.
"It's been a complete thrill to watch people all over the world fall in love with these characters, who've been brought to such vibrant life by our spectacular cast," series creator Katherine Jakeways said in a press release.
"We know season one left audiences desperate to know what's next for our buccaneers, so I'm absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to explore the further adventures of this smart, joyful, messy sisterhood."
The first season was an eight-part adaptation of Wharton's unfinished novel was first announced by Apple TV+ in 2022.
Edith Wharton started writing her novel in the 1930s. While she passed away before completing it, she left behind a detailed outline. Her unfinished manuscript was published in 1938, a year after her death. Later, in 1993, Marion Mainwaring completed the unfinished manuscript.
The first season of "The Buccaneers" stars Kristine Froseth, Alisha Boe, Josie Totah, Aubri Ibrag, Imogen Waterhouse, and Mia Threapleton.

Great news. Good series. Looking forward to season two
Boy, we really enjoyed Dickinson. I was hoping this was going to be interesting and clever, wrapped in a period era, but it is not. It's a Gossip Girl type angst vehicle set with period sets and clothing. Not for us.
