Apple TV+ hits "Slow Horses" and the final season of "Ted Lasso," are up for awards in a ceremony co-sponsored by the company.

Apple TV+ has been involved in sponsorship deals before, such as with Instacart for recipes from "Lessons in Chemistry." Plus it now sponsors the xhalftime show in the Super Bowl.

According to Deadline, though, Apple TV+ is now sponsoring categories in awards shows. Specifically, it's backing two categories in the UK's Casting Director's Guild awards.

Apple TV+ is sponsoring the CDG's Best Casting in a Film, which has nominations for "All of Us Strangers, "The Banshees of Inisherin,"Barbie," "Saltburn," and "Triangle of Sadness."

It's also sponsoring Best Casting in a Limited or Single Series. Shows nominated in this category are "A Small Light," "Black Mirror (Season 6)," "Somewhere Boy," "The Long Shadow," and "Time (Season 2)."

Separately, Apple TV+ itself is nominated in two categories. "Ted Lasso (Season 3) is up for For Best Casting in a TV Comedy Series, while both seasons 2 and 3 of "Slow Horses" are competing for Best Casting in a TV Drama Series.

The awards ceremony will be held on February 21, 2024.

I don't know about Apple TV+ sponsoring awards, but I do think Slow Horses is brilliantly cast. I mean, Gary Oldman alone is worth an award, but they pretty much nailed everyone else. I worry that sponsoring awards, even if they're not the ones they are competing for, might take away from a deserved award either of those shows might get.

Slow Horses is nipping at the heels of Ted Lasso for my favorite AppleTV+ show.
