France's Balenciaga and Germany's Rimowa have launched their first public apps, bringing fashion and high-end luggage to the Apple Vision Pro.
If you've bought an Apple Vision Pro, you're not likely to be short of cash and Apple isn't the only firm looking to appeal to your bank account. Previously, the Caviar company has offered the whole Apple Vision Pro headset in limited edition gold for $40,000, though it's gaudy more than Gucci.
Now French fashion house Balenciaga and German luxury luggage maker Rimowa have launched what appear to be their first-ever apps for the public. Rimowa has had an iPhone app for training staff, but otherwise the App Store has been missing both of these firms, until now.
The apps from these two companies are exclusively on Apple Vision Pro. Both exploit the features of the headset, but do so in different ways.
As first spotted by MacRumors, Rimowa has gone for showing off its suitcases in 3D detail. Colors can be changed, accessories can be added, and the suitcases can be seen as if they were in the users' real space.
"Discover novel ways to explore the Maison's iconic collections, each made with the highest calibre of craftsmanship and innovation," says the Rimowa Explore app. "Immerse yourself in their intricate details to find your perfect companion and elevate your travels to new heights."
Balenciaga, though, has opted to create more of a performance. In what's reportedly just the start of its offering, the company's Apple Vision Pro app shows off its latest Spring/Summer 2025 fashion show.
"Revisit the Spring 25 show augmented with stereoscopic footage and an interactive lookbook feature... watch Balenciaga's previous iconic shows in an entirely new dimension," says the description for the Balenciaga app. "Listen to Balenciaga Music exclusive playlists selected by Demna, featuring artists and groups providing insight into their musical universes and personal references."
This is similar to how Gucci launched an Apple Vision Pro app that in part showed off its Spring/Summer 2024 collection.
The two apps from Balenciaga and Rimowa are both free, but nothing else is even cheap. Currently Balenciaga is selling men's teeshirts from at least $550, with most approaching $1,000, while a small Rimowa cabin bag goes for $1,650.
