It's official — 'Ted Lasso' is getting a fourth season

On a rare podcast appearance, in conjunction with an Apple press release, series star Jason Sudeikis has confirmed without a doubt that there will be a fourth season of "Ted Lasso," and has also confirmed what the titular character is doing.

Other stars have said that they were hearing whispers about a fourth season, and rumors have been pointing to it, but Sudeikis' remarks on the New Heights podcast eliminate any doubt. It's not clear who will be returning for a fourth season other than Sudeikis.

Despite the reveal, the star refused to respond to the Kelce brothers' questions about the new season. Some of the answers he just didn't have given the early stages of the production — but he was clear about what Lasso was doing after the events of season 3.

"Ted's coaching a women's team, so there, that's it," Sudeikis said on the podcast. This was also hinted at, at the end of the original run.

And, after the podcast release, Apple officially announced season 4.

"As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to look before we leap,'" executive producer and star Sudeikis said in the release, "in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be."

The third season of the hit show ended in 2022. Rumors about a fourth season started almost immediately.

In August 2024, a report suggested that Warner Bros. had picked options for actors playing key roles in Ted Lasso. The list included Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift.

By October 2024, season 4 of Ted Lasso appeared in a production database maintained by the Film & Television Industry Alliance.

Nick Mohammad, shared a short video in January 2025 that strongly suggested a new season would be filming soon.

Filming for the fourth season is expected to begin in May or June 2025 in London. This would put a release in very late 2025 or early 2026, barring unforeseen problems with production.

What a bizarre message. I predict this will continue the final season trajectory of the show to the absolute pits.

I got about 2 episodes into S3 and quit. Season 2 was already nowhere near season one - having the 50-something team owner sleeping with an early 20's player was a true WTF plot concept, and had it been man/woman instead of woman/man, that would have been quite differently handled - and 3 was just unwatchable.

OTOH, Slow Horses is excellent.

Obviously we will have to see the final output before any decisions can be made. Still, at least for me, it felt like season 3 had a lot of filler and was of poorer quality vs season 2, which itself was not as strong as season 1.

They probably should have left it at season 3.

I stopped watching at the end of Season 2. It was a mess and felt like they were just trying to ride off the popularity of season 1. Have zero desire to watch season three and four.

S1 was great. Everything following that was utterly stupid nonsense.

If this is the best they can come up with, I worry that it could be the nail in the coffin of an already dead-man-walking AppleTV(+ or whatever that branding shit was).
