Rumors of a new TechWoven iPhone 17 case just leveled up after the first video of the accessory appeared online.

A new video posted to the X social network by leaker Majin Bu shows a case that is clearly built with the rumored iPhone 17 in mind.

The same leaker shared images of these new cases previously. Now, we've been treated to a short video of the case in action.

Bu claims that the new TechWoven case "looks so good," which isn't something that was often said about its predecessor. The proof is in the pudding, though, and it remains to be seen how these cases hold up to daily wear and tear.

Replacing Apple's leather iPhone cases, FineWoven was supposed to be a durable yet eco-friendly alternative. But buyers soon found that they weren't up to the job, with Apple rumored to be ready to return to leather instead.

FineWoven case owners complained that they soon turned smooth and shiny. Others found that they simply fell apart too quickly — especially considering the $59 asking price.

Our own FineWoven 15 case review wasn't exactly complimentary, either. Our own Andrew O'Hara hit the nail on the head, saying that the best way to describe the FineWoven material was "cheap."

Similarly, Apple's FineWoven products were shown to be "Frequently Returned" on Amazon's product pages.

It wasn't just leather cases that got the chop, either. Apple chose to phase out leather products entirely — including its excellent watch bands.

It isn't immediately clear whether Bu has these cases in hand or is sharing images and videos created by others, though. Images of these same cases appear to have been posted to X on August 15 by an account called @smartechdaily.

It's also important to note that Bu has a somewhat checkered history in terms of Apple product leaks and predictions.

The video appears to be in some kind of retail shop too. That's an unlikely venue in August for an Apple product leak.

We're also skeptical of the timing. The first FineWoven leaks were in May and June of the release year, from multiple sources. One source of a case rumor is questionable.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro handsets at a streamed event in September. New cases are inevitable, and now it looks more likely than ever that a revamped material will be used.
