The Apple TV Emmy-nominated comedy "Shrinking" is officially returning for its third season just after the new year with new guest stars Jeff Daniels and Michael J. Fox

Apple confirmed the news on October 21, 2025, marking the comeback of the fan-favorite series. The new 11-episode season stars Emmy nominee Jason Segel and multi-award winner Harrison Ford.

It will stream globally on Apple TV on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Fans won't get the full season all at once. The show will debut with a one-hour premiere episode on January 28, 2026. The premiere is followed by weekly Wednesday releases through the finale on April 8.

Shrinking follows a grieving therapist, played by Segel, who begins breaking the rules of his profession to tell clients exactly what he thinks. His unorthodox approach creates "huge, tumultuous changes" in their lives and his own.

Big stars, new & old

The show's strength lies in its talented cast as Ford reprises his role alongside Segel, continuing his acclaimed television comedy career. The ensemble includes Emmy nominee Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, and Ted McGinley.

Season three will add high-profile guest stars Jeff Daniels and activist Michael J. Fox. They'll join returning guests such as co-creator Brett Goldstein, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendie Malick, and Cobie Smulders.

The 'Lasso' effect

The creative pedigree behind Shrinking remains top-tier. The series was created by Emmy winners Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein — both known for Ted Lasso — alongside Segel.

It's the third major collaboration between Apple, Lawrence's Doozer Productions, and Warner Bros. Television, following Ted Lasso and Bad Monkey, which was recently renewed for a second season.

The partnership highlights Apple's ongoing trust in Lawrence's storytelling team.

Apple's premium play

The renewal aligns with Apple's broader strategy of focusing on premium, star-driven originals since Apple TV launched on November 1, 2019. The service, the first all-original global streaming platform, continues to gain recognition.

So far, Apple Originals have earned 630 wins and 2,846 award nominations, including hits like Ted Lasso and Oscar Best Picture winner CODA.

Shrinking is available on the Apple TV app, accessible on over a billion screens worldwide. Supported devices include iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple TV 4K, Apple Vision Pro, smart TVs, Roku, and gaming consoles. The monthly cost is $12.99.
