Mechanical keyboard enthusiasts will have plenty to choose from in 2026, and Keychron is out of the gate with new 8K polling rate keyboards with a full metal design and Silk POM switches.

Keychron's lineup of mechanical keyboards ranges in every shape, size, and layout imaginable, and they're always iterating on those models. Its CES 2026 exhibit reveals upgrades to its popular Q series and V series, while also showcasing some future prototypes and existing models.

The Q Ultra series, which includes the Q6 Ultra 100% layout keyboard, the Q3 Ultra TKL layout keyboard, and the Q1 Ultra 75% layout keyboard, is launching during CES 2026 on January 6. It is the first range of mass-produced ZMK mechanical keyboards with up to 660 hours of battery life at 8K polling rate in 2.4GHz wireless mode.

ZMK, as opposed to QMK, is an open-source firmware that can run on mechanical keyboards and it has a focus on wireless efficiency. It is what enables this long battery life even with the fast polling rate, which is the rate at which the keyboard sends signals to the connected computer.

Keychron is also introducing the Silk POM switches, which are expected to provide a smoother typing experience. These switches are said to provide a richer and modern sound that enthusiasts prefer.

The Q Ultra series will feature a full aluminum build, a new decorative knob, and a new bottom case accent. As always, every key is customizable.

Keychron V5 Ultra

The more affordable V series is also being upgraded with the V5 Ultra, V3 Ultra, and V1 Ultra. They feature the same ZMK firmware, 660-hour battery, 8K polling rate, and new design flourishes.

What sets the V and Q series apart, other than price, is the materials. The Q series is all metal, while the V series is not, though the new V Ultra series does offer Bluetooth in addition to 2.4GHz and wired options, and it has a new gasket mount structure and acoustic foams.

The Q Ultra series starts at $229.99 and launches on January 6 via the Keychron website. The V Ultra series launches later in January, but a specific date hasn't been announced, and they start at $114.99.

Keychron is also showcasing future models at CES 2026. The Q1 HE 8K Marble Version is expected in April, while two new K2 HE models are expected in February.
