References to two new Apple Studio Display models have been found in macOS 26.3 code, stacking up more potential product announcements before the May 4 Apple "Experience."
Apple has confirmed that it will hold a special event on March 4, with rumors suggesting it could follow a week of announcements. A low-cost MacBook is expected to be the star of the show.
Now, references to codenames J427 and J527 have been found in the macOS 26.3 update. Those codenames match a report from September 2025 that pegged both products as being Apple Studio Displays.
Now, Macworld reports that the same codenames can now be seen in the macOS software available to the public. That suggests that the new products will be announced imminently, with all eyes already on the first week of March.
Notably, the same macOS update includes references to J700, the codename already rumored to be assigned to a budget-friendly MacBook. The fact that the same MacBook is heavily rumored to be announced soon again suggests the displays will follow suit.
Twice the monitor than the original
However, there remains confusion about the inclusion of two codenames. The codenames were previously thought to reference new Studio Display models, with the possibility that only one would ship.
With that in mind, it's possible Apple may offer the new Studio Display in two configurations. It's unclear what would differentiate the two, but different display sizes seem like the logical conclusion here.
The current Studio Display is a 27-inch, 5K monitor. It's possible Apple could add a 32-inch model to the mix with this refresh, but that's as-yet unconfirmed.
As for the low-cost MacBook, that's expected to be priced between $599 and $799 and use an iPhone A18 Pro chip, but some rumors suggest that it will be an A19 variant. A smaller sub-13-inch display will also help cut costs, too.
