For one brief, fleeting moment, something called the "MacBook Neo" appeared on Apple's website, essentially confirming that Apple's new affordable MacBook release is imminent.

On Tuesday, Apple's European EU / UK Declaration of Conformity site featured a yet-unreleased Mac under the 2026 section. The computer in question was listed as the MacBook Neo, model number A3404.

It's not entirely clear what that item refers to. While Apple removed the listing quickly, it provided no further details or images anyway.

It's easy to assume that it could be Apple's all-but-unannounced budget-model MacBook, assumed to launch on Wednesday. This would be the first time, however, that we've heard "Neo" appended to the end.

Of course, it's possible that the name "Neo" is an internal codename, too. We're betting that Apple keeps the name simple, opting to reuse "MacBook" from generations prior.

The new budget-friendly MacBook will supposedly feature an A18 Pro chip, rather than its higher-end counterparts' M-series chips. It is also expected to have a 13-inch display and lower-end features, such as fewer USB-C ports and lower memory.

Currently, pricing estimates are wide, with suggestions ranging from $599 to $799.
