Apple TV is getting its own remake of the iconic psychological thriller 'Cape Fear', starring Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson.
Specifically, "Cape Fear" will be based on the 1991 Martin Scorsese-directed, Steven Spielberg-produced film of the same title. Fittingly, both Scorsese and Spielberg are on board as executive producers.
The story follows married attorneys Anna, played by Amy Adams, and Tom Bowden, played by Patrick Wilson. Their lives are upended when notorious killer Max Cady, played by Javier Bardem, is released from prison, dead set on seeking revenge against the couple who helped convict him.
Unlike the original, the Apple TV take will be a 10-episode limited series. It will make its global debut on Friday, June 5, 2026, with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31.
"Cape Fear" is yet another in a long line of psychological thrillers that have made their way to Apple TV. The strategy has worked well for Apple, as "Severance," its workplace psychological thriller, was the first to unseat "Ted Lasso" as Apple's most-watched series.
"Pluribus" is another big hit for Apple. The American Film Institute honored "Pluribus" with an award, and it's been nominated for the Golden Globes' Best Television Series in the drama category.
