The next iPhone 18 Pro models will sport a deep red color, a frequent leaker claims. However, their source is apparently upcoming Android device launches.

On April 11, prominent leaker Digital Chat Station posted to Weibo about the iPhone 18 Pro. The machine-translated post claims that the iPhone 18 Pro "has a high probability of being crimson."

Somewhat adding a little bit of confusion to the mix is the rest of the post. Apparently, the forecast is based on the leaker seeing "the next flagship of the Android camp proofing this color."

The leaker doesn't say what Android device they saw, nor offer other details about the color or the iPhone.

While there are instances where Android vendors directly copy Apple, as insinuated in the statement, it may not necessarily be true here. It's entirely possible that it was made up to make the color "news" more exciting.

Digital Chat Station has a fairly mixed track record when it comes to Apple rumors. Since Weibo leakers also have a tendency to repost stories from others with little fact-checking involved, or straight up reposting previous rumors to stay relevant to the audience, that could be the case here.

Painting the town red

This is not the first time we have heard about the use of red in the iPhone 18 Pro line.

Back in February, the more reliable reporting of Bloomberg said that the strong success of the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max in China has led Apple to consider other color options. An equally striking deep red color was under testing, with variants in brown and purple also claimed.

In April, Weibo leaker Instant Digital added to the color rumors, saying that black will not be a Pro model option for the second year in a row. While not specifying red as the option, it did at least indicate that vibrant colors were Apple's path forward for 2026.

Apple has not sold a Pro model of iPhone in red before, not even under the (Product)RED initiative. If the rumors are true, it would be the first red iPhone Pro to be officially sold by the company.
