A new report claims that Apple will repeat the vibrant color of the iPhone 17 Pro Max and offer options including a return to a deep red for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, but not the iPhone Fold.
It has traditionally been that lower-end iPhones can get bright colors such as the purple iPhone 12, while with exceptions, the Pro models have more muted ones. Now according to Bloomberg, the iPhone 18 Pro line will also get stronger than usual colors.
This is said to be specifically because the orange iPhone 17 Pro Max has allegedly been particularly popular in China. Consequently, the claim is that deep red is in consideration as the color of the two Pro models in the iPhone 18 range.
It does also surmise that Apple will keep the Cosmic Orange look, as it's so popular. Reportedly, there are also claims of a purple or brown color, although Bloomberg believes these are actually variants of red that Apple is testing.
So those are not expected to be offered as colors when the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are launched. The same report also says that these brighter or more vibrant colors will not be used on the expected iPhone Fold.
Instead, the Fold will reportedly come in two colors. One is a black or dark gray, while the other is white or perhaps light silver.
That black or white color option for the iPhone Fold has been reported previously. But then, a deep red Pro model was also predicted for the iPhone 15 Pro back in 2023, and that didn't appear.
There have been (PRODUCT)RED versions of the iPhone in the past There was even a single Mac Pro in the color. It's not clear how close the colors Apple is testing, and that red hue varies, if at all.
Separately, it's also been previously reported that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will not be visibly much different to their predecessors. That's claimed to be because the iPhone 17 Pro models were so popular, but Apple doesn't wait for one iPhone to come out before it is committed to the design of the next.
