An image purporting to be of a prototype of the forthcoming iPhone Fold has been released by a fairly reliable leaker, but it's still as likely to be fake as not.

Back in February 2026, AppleInsider said that if the iPhone Fold is really coming this year, there should be leaks before long. There have been, too, although nothing as conclusive as the iPhone Air leaks of 2025.

Now there's a single image of what's claimed to be a white prototype of the iPhone Fold. It's been shared on Chinese social media site Weibo by Ice Universe, who generally has a decent track record in leaks.

Person holding a white folding smartphone prototype with dual rear cameras, shown half-open on a workbench, within a social media post containing Chinese text and an English translation.

The original Weibo leak is of this single image with no further detail.

What's shown is a white-backed iPhone with two cameras, and a front which appears close to being all-screen. That front appears to be shrinkwrapped, though, making it hard to determine the bezel size for sure.

It definitely fits all of the recent claims about the camera, and previous design drawings. Equally, it matches the CAD drawings leaker Sonny Dickson showed in March 2026.

Yet there is the Bigfoot and Loch Ness Monster factor. Just as with all claimed photos of these creatures, there is only one shot. If Ice Universe has this prototype, they should surely be showing it from every angle, and operational.

It's not as if Ice Universe will have been using a film camera with 16 images per roll. They could have taken more shots and the fact that there are none detracts from the credibility of this one.

Of course, leakers also want people to keep coming back to them, so perhaps there are more photos. And perhaps we'll see more of them over the next few days.

There is plenty of time for that, too, as the iPhone Fold is not expected to launch until September. Then there's even doubt about that, as Apple is said to be having problems with the hinge first, and then the circuit board.
