MSI is targeting gaps Apple still hasn't addressed in its Studio Display with a new lineup of OLED and IPS monitors that add integrated KVM support, high refresh rates, and USB-C docking features for Mac users.

The company targets Mac users seeking premium external displays without paying $1,599 for Apple's Studio Display. MSI's Pro Max lineup includes $149.99 IPS displays and a $709.99 white QD-OLED model optimized for MacBook workflows and creative setups.

The flagship Pro Max 271UPXW12G features a 27-inch 4K QD-OLED panel with dual USB-C ports, integrated KVM support, and up to 98W USB-C power delivery for single-cable MacBook setups. MSI's new "DarkArmor" technology enhances black levels and contrast for editing and design work.

The monitor also carries Pantone validation and Delta-E color accuracy ratings for professional editing, color grading, and design workflows. MSI says the display delivers 166 pixels per inch and supports 120Hz refresh rates with Adaptive-Sync support.

MSI's Pro Max lineup now includes lower-priced IPS models like the Pro Max 271QPHW E14, Pro Max 271PHW E14, and Pro Max 241PHW E14. These displays prioritize eye comfort, ergonomic stands, USB-C connectivity, and high refresh rates over OLED panels.

The lineup supports multi-device control, USB-C connectivity, and color profile synchronization via MSI's M-Mate software. The flagship white OLED model offers macOS color synchronization, Mac keyboard shortcut support, and dual USB-C power delivery.

Lower-end that Studio Display, but not low-end

Apple's Studio Display still uses an IPS LCD panel and offers a relatively narrow feature set for professional desktop users. MSI is targeting the gaps Apple left open with OLED panels, integrated KVM support, high refresh rates, and a broader range of display options for Mac workflows.

MSI is also positioning the displays around multi-device Apple setups involving MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iPad combinations connected through a single desktop workspace.

Integrated KVM support could matter more as Mac users increasingly split work across multiple Apple devices. The feature allows users to control several systems with a single keyboard and mouse without relying on additional switching hardware.

MSI is also leaning heavily into USB-C docking workflows that are common among MacBook desk setups. The flagship display's 98W power delivery system can charge a MacBook while simultaneously handling video and data over a single cable.

Apple's Studio Display still has a higher pixel density with its 5K Retina panel, though MSI competes more aggressively on feature count and pricing.

MSI ties its displays to Mac workflows, Apple-style industrial design, and what it describes as Liquid Retina-class sharpness. The company also calls the lineup "the best mate for Mac" and emphasizes white designs resembling Apple's desktop hardware.

Pricing spans from budget IPS displays to premium OLED models
