Aftermarket accessory maker LifeProof announced a new Fre Power battery case for Apple's iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus phablets on Tuesday, claiming the new product juices up an iPhone while keeping it safe from drops and submersion in water.
Debuted at CES, the waterproof Fre Power for iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus comes packed with a 3,200 mAh lithium ion battery capable of doubling an iPhone's uptime, according to LifeProof. Like other products in the Fre series, the new Fre Power is IP-68 rated against water and dirt, meaning the case can be submerged in up to 6.6 feet for an hour.
A built-in scratch guard protects iPhone's screen while keeping hardware features readily accessible, including Touch ID fingerprint recognition and, for iPhone 6s Plus, 3D Touch. An optical glass covering the rear-facing iSight camera allows for distortion-free photos and video, while advanced internal circuitry allows for rapid charging.
"LifeProof continues to defy the limits of possibility with smartphones," said Pete Lindgren, LifeProof's CEO and president. "Fre Power for iPhone 6s Plus takes Apple's large form-factor device on bigger, better adventures with double the battery capacity and our award-winning four-proof protection against the elements."
LifeProof most recently updated its Fre Power lineup for iPhone in October, bringing compatibility to iPhone 6s units for $130.
The LifeProof Fre Power for iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus comes in black and blue/light blue color options. Preorders are being accepted now for $149.99 through LifeProof's website.

Possibly nice for out of doors use, say long dayhikes and such. Otherwise a booster battery would be cheaper and less intrusive.
