Long a holdout, BMW this week finally launched support for Apple's CarPlay by offering the technology as an upgrade option for 2 Series cars.
The option costs $300, and is available on Coupe, Convertible, xDrive Coupe, and xDrive Convertible versions of the 230i and M240i. The 2017 230i starts at $32,850, while the M240i costs upwards of $45,145.
BMW first announced plans to support CarPlay in November. In May, leaks revealed that the X5M and X6M would get support, and by June the feature was expected for upcoming versions of the M3 and M4 as well.
Some automakers have been more leery of CarPlay than others, either hoping to steer people towards proprietary dashboard interfaces or working to find the best integration strategy. Other companies may have simply wanted to see demand before committing.
Most major brands are now onboard, the most conspicuous gap being Toyota.

Expensive car and and still have to pay for Carplay ? Thought, suppose to be standard feature.
Why does every other company have free updates yet because its an expensive car we have to charge for it. You'd think after paying for a BMW they wouldn't nickel and dime you.
My wife wants a Toyota, but I want a Honda if only for CarPlay support.
