Apple has released a curated list of apps designed to shine when run on its new line of Apple Silicon M1 Macs, including big names like Adobe Lightroom, Twitter, and Pixelmator Pro.
The story, which can be found in the Mac App Store, includes an embedded video that shows Mac developers talk about the process of bringing their apps to the new Macs.
"Macs with the new Apple M1 chip offer unprecedented performance," Apple says of the apps. "And developers can optimize their apps for the M1 to deliver game-changing speed and capabilities."
Apple organized the list into various categories, allowing users to easily browse for apps.
In the creativity category, Apple picked apps such as:
- Affinity apps, such as Affinity Publisher, Affinity Designer, and Affinity Photo
- Pixelmator Pro
- djay
- Adobe Lightroom
- iA Writer
- Darkroom
In the productivity category, highlighted apps included:
- The Omni suite of apps, including OmniGraffle 7, OmniPlan 4, OmniFocus 3, and OmniOutliner 5
- Noto
- MindNode
- Fantastical Calendar
- Things 3
- Bear
Apps centered around coding and developing are also featured, with apps like:
And the last category featured is "essential apps and tools, a miscellaneous category that features apps such as:
- BetterSnapTool
- Night Sky
- Keka
- Instapaper
- Fastscripts
Apple frequently features notable apps and media. Last week, Apple named its top picks for best books, audiobooks, and podcasts for 2020.
