Apple TV+ has given a first look at musical comedy series "Schmigadoon!," set to star Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key
Described as a parody of iconic musicals, the series follows a couple on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship when they discover a magical town in which everyone is living in a studio musical from the 1940s. Strong's and Key's characters then discover that they can't leave the town until they find "true love."
In addition to Strong and Key, the six-episode first season is also slated to feature Alan Cumming, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Fred Armisen, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada.
The series, co-created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, hails from Broadway Video and Universal Television. Paul serves as the showrunner, and also wrote all of the music.
Barry Sonnenfeld directs and executive produces, Strong produces, and Ken Daurio serves as consulting producer and writer. Andrew Singer executive produces with Lorne Michaels.
Apple says that the series will debut in the summer of 2021, though it did not reveal an exact release date for the show.

I love Keegan-Michael Key! He’s a brilliant comedic improviser (I was actually studying at Second City Detroit when that was still a thing when he was there and loved just about every improv set he was in). Can’t wait to see this.
Keegan-Michael is a rough first name for a kid. Perhaps that was the inspiration for the "a-a-ron" skit.
I'm looking forward to this show, both for Key and music. I'm not a fan of musicals Broadway or movie but I like TV shows with music in them. Ok, I like some Bollywood stuff too. I'm hoping for good writing as well.
