Apple has picked up "Surfside Girls" for Apple TV+, a ten-episode live-action children's show based on the best-selling graphic novels from author Kim Dwinell.
An adventure series, "Surfside Girls" will star Miya Cech and YaYa Gosselin as Jade and Sam, best friends who work to save their town. Their summer vacation plans change from surfing to solving a mystery, involving a ghost, a pirate ship, and cursed treasure.
Cech is known for appearing in "Rim of the World" and "The Astronauts" while Gosselin arrives from "We Can be Heroes" and "FBI: Most Wanted." The on-screen version will be written and executive produced by WGA Award winner May Chan, behind "Avatar: The Last Airbender," and will also serve as showrunner.
Other executive producers include Paul Stupin, Alex Diaz, Julie Sagalowsky Diaz, and Lynda Antonini. America Young will direct and executive produce the first two episodes of the show.
Apple didn't say when the show will become available to watch on Apple TV+, but that it will be joining a growing lineup of child-oriented programming, including "Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show," "Ghostwriter," and "Helpsters."
