Casetify 'Toy Story' iPhone 13 case review: Your favorite Pixar characters complement your phone

Casetify's Toy Story cases

Casetify Toy Story collection

4.0 / 5

Casetify's new "Toy Story" collection is full of nostalgia for Pixar fans with cases, watch bands, batteries, and more. We took a look at a few of the new case designs for iPhone 13 Pro.

The new collection, launching Tuesday, has tons of images and characters from Disney Pixar's "Toy Story" franchise. You've got Lot-so'-Huggin' bear, Forky, Buzz, Woody, Jesse, the adorable Pizza Planet aliens, and so many more.

There are also movie references such as the white skull on a field of black, paying homage to Sid's tee shirt. And then, there's also Pixar's Luxo ball with the red star.

While we picked out a few cases to try, there are designs for all categories of Casetify's products. There are Apple Watch bands, AirTag covers, magnetic Qi chargers that work with MagSafe, and cases for AirPods.

Cases for your iPhone

Our three cases had slightly different styles but were all for the iPhone 13 Pro. You can find them in many other sizes as well if you have a different iPhone.

Jessie and Bullseye Jessie and Bullseye

The first case had a full-back image with Jessie and her lasso. Yee-haw is spelled out in that lasso while Bullseye rears up next to her.

This case offers additional durability to most cases thanks to the reinforced corners. You can see the additional bumpers that help bolster the protection during a tumble.

It noted on the side that this specific case uses recycled material. This is part of the Re/Casetify line and 65 percent of the case is recycled material which we also appreciate seeing. We would it would also have been biodegradable though.

The other downside with this case is that it doesn't support MagSafe. The same goes for the cowboy Woody case. The Woody case is clear so you can see your phone but doesn't support Apple's MagSafe tech.

Fortunately, our favorite case of the lot did support MagSafe. This case is clear with a blue tint to match the walls of Andy's bedroom. Clouds are printed onto the exterior of the case but you can still see the Apple logo and MagSafe ring beneath.

The edges of this case also highlight the integrated shock absorber. It doesn't have bulbous corners, but you can see light blue strips of impact-resistant material around all the sides.

No matter which iPhone color you have — Space Gray, silver, Sierra Blue, your phone will get that blue tint. The Toy Story logo is printed on the bottom. This case feels iconic but subtle without a full character across the back.

Should you buy Casetify's "Toy Story" iPhone case lineup?

Casetify has a cult-like following for a reason. They've landed exclusive licensing deals with some of the biggest brands out there, many under the Disney umbrella. We recently took a look at the "Star Wars" collection they released.

The same all hold for the "Toy Story" collection. We love the nostalgic vibes, fun colors, and fun characters that remind us of growing up in the 90's when Toy Story was just getting started.

We'd prefer if all cases supported MagSafe universally but it seems Casetify has been working on bringing more support to MagSafe across its product lines.

If you're a fan of "Toy Story," Casetify has plenty of accessories to choose from, including these fun and protective cases.

Pros

  • High-quality Casetify gear
  • Tons of characters and designs for various devices
  • MagSafe support on certain cases
  • Nostalgic and fun
  • Apple Watch bands complement the "Toy Story" watch face

Cons

  • Not every case supports MagSafe
  • Only a few characters get their own case design

Rating: 4 out of 5

Where to buy

The new "Toy Story" collection is available from Casetify on the company's website starting at $38.

Timing of cases always interests me and, as well, almost always makes me bypass the purchase of one. Releasing these for the current model year iPhone for those on the iPhone Upgrade Program makes little sense for a phone with only 2-3 more months of in-hand life in the example of today’s date, August 2022. It occurs quite a bit and I wonder how many are ever sold vs how many could have been sold were they released earlier in the latest generation iPhone sale… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
