Apple TV+ unveils nine new and returning kids' shows

Last updated

New kids and family series coming to Apple TV+ include 'Slumberkins' from Jim Henson's company, alongside returning favorite "Ghostwriter."

Apple has announced nine forthcoming childrens' and family shows, including five that are new to the platform. Calling it a "vibrant fall slate," Apple says that it's a mix of "fresh, original series, new on-screen imaginings of beloved properties, as well as returning fan-favorite and critically acclaimed series."

New series

The new shows include "Sago Mini Friends," which starts from September 16, 2022. A preschool animated show, it's "based on the charming characters and artful designs featured in the award-winning Sago Mini World app, developed by Sago Mini.

Then there's The Jim Henson Company's "Slumberkins," based on what Apple describes as "the leading children's emotional learning brand." Done in 2D animation and also mixed-media puppets, it starts on November 4, 2022, and is intended to "empower the emotional wellness of children."

On November 11, Apple TV+ will debut "Circuit Breakers." Created by Melody Fox, it's "a half-hour futuristic anthology series that tackles kid-relatable issues through a sci-fi lens."

"Interrupting Chicken" is the next new show, starting on November 18, and it's an animated preschool series. Based on David Ezra Stein's books, it "introduces children to the joy of creative writing."

The Apple TV+ fall slate also includes a new addition to its existing collection of "Peanuts" series. From September 9, 2022, "fans of the beloved Peanuts gang will have more classics available to watch," as a number of previously unavailable episodes are added.

Returning favorites

One of Apple's earliest series, "Ghostwriter," returns for a third season on October 21, 2022 — but "with an entirely new cast and a new adventure." A group of friends must solve a mystery that sees fictional characters leaving a book store and entering the real world.

"Wolfboy and the Everything Factory" gets its second season starting from September 30, 2022. It takes Wolfboy "to a new realm underneath the Everything Factory that is responsible for all of the destruction in the universe."

"Get Rolling with Otis" also gains a second season, and it is also streaming from September 30. It's an animated series "welcoming young viewers to Long Hill Dairy Farm, home to Otis the tractor and all his friends."

Lastly, "Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show" is another second-season returning show, this time streaming from October 7, 2022. "Jack is one of Clover Grove's most thoughtful and caring residents, greeting everyone with kindness and humor," says Apple. "A new season of kindness creates more incredible change."

Apple's new fall kids season follows its extensive lineup for the summer, announced in May.
