Apple TV+ gets 17 nominations for Children's and Family Emmys

Apple TV+ content gets 17 Children's Emmys nominations

Apple TV+ scores 17 Children's and Family Emmy nominations across 10 of its programs, with winners to be announced in December.

Apple's streaming service has drawn a lot of critical acclaim since its inception, and it is no slouch at the first-ever Children's and Family Emmys event. This standalone awards competition is a branch of the conventional Emmys and will air on December 10 and 11 to announce winners.

According to a report from Deadline, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences saw a rapid increase in submissions for the genre, which prompted the separate awards show. This is the first expansion of the list of Emmys award shows since 1979.

"Putting a spotlight on children's & family programming after years of unparalleled growth in content quality and quantity in this space is an exciting moment for the television industry," NATAS President and CEO Adam Sharp said. "These programs entertain, inform and educate family members of all ages, and NATAS is proud to mark this milestone event and give these creators the stage they deserve."

Apple managed to be nominated for 17 awards across 10 of its programs. Children's show "Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock" and the documentary "Who Are You, Charlie Brown?" stand out as the biggest nominees for awards.

Bravo, Apple. This is great news for families that want something beyond Disney+ and PBS for children’s programming. The “kids” shows I’ve seen on Apple TV+ are very good, from Helpsters to Princess & Pony to (of course) Fraggle Rock and the Peanuts content.
