After a tumultuous year for the entire world's industries, Apple doesn't just top big tech, but it is again at the peak of Fortune magazine's list of the world's most admired firms.
Apple topped the list from Fortune in 2022, as well as the list of the most admired companies from Forbes in early February. It's the sixteenth year in a row that Apple has been crowned the Most Admired Company on each list.
The company ranks number one in the computer industry and in the top spot overall.
The list from Fortune includes companies from a wide range of businesses, not just technology. Amazon and Microsoft tied for second place, but Fortune lists Amazon in second and Microsoft in third.
Berkshire Hathaway reached fourth place, while JPMorgan Chase trailed in fifth place. Walt Disney is in sixth, Costco Wholesale is in seventh place, while Pfizer, Alphabet, and American Express round out eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively. Netflix dropped out of the top-10, and is sitting at 29th.
Fortune partners with Korn Ferry to survey corporate reputations in 52 industries. Korn Ferry polled executives, directors, and analysts in their respective industries on nine criteria ranging from investment value and quality of management and products to social responsibility and ability to attract talent.
To be listed, a company's score must rank in the top half of its industry survey. Korn Ferry asked 3,760 executives, directors, and securities analysts who had participated in industry surveys to name the ten companies they admired the most.
