IHG Hotels & Resorts, the first hospitality chain to offer AirPlay-compatible TVs in-room, has begun rolling out the feature to select locations.
Starting Thursday, more than 60 IHG properties in North America will allow guests to connect their iPhone or iPad to the in-room TV. This will allow guests to stream videos, listen to music, play Apple Arcade games, use Apple Fitness+, and more.
Guests will connect to a compatible TV by scanning a QR code on the screen. Each code is unique to the hotel room and is designed with privacy in mind.
When a guest checks out, the connection to the TV is erased. This guarantees that future guests and hotel staff can't access the user's activity.
IHG includes brands like Holiday Inn, Hotel Indigo, Candlewood Suites, and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. The current list of properties with AirPlay-compatible TVs is available on the IHG Hotels & Resorts website.
In February, LG confirmed that customers would see AirPlay-compatible TVs in select hotels this spring. The feature is available on LG TV models such as the LG Pro: Centric Smart Hotel TV.

I'd much rather have a cross-platform HDMI port.
