CEO Tim Cook has continued his tour of Asia by visiting Singapore, where he announced that Apple will spend $250 million to expand its existing campus there.
Apple does not release Tim Cook's schedule in advance, but following visits to Vietnam and then Indonesia, the CEO is concluding what appears to be a week-long Asia trip. His apparently final stop is a two-day visit to Singapore, and at the same time Apple has announced a significant expansion of its office campus space in the country.
"Singapore is truly a one-of-a-kind place, and we are proud of the connection we've built with this dynamic community of creators, learners, and dreamers," said Cook in a statement. "With our growing campus, Apple is writing a new chapter in our history here."
"Our Singapore teams have played an important role in enriching the lives of our customers," he continued, "and we can't wait for many more decades of innovation to come."
According to Bloomberg, Cook is scheduled to meet with Singapore's current Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, and Lawrence Wong, who is due to succeed him in May.
Cook has also been posting on social media about visiting with Apple users in each of the countries he's visited. That includes his and Apple Vice President of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives Lisa Jackson's last stop in Jakarta.
Proud to visit our Apple Developer Academy in Jakarta to celebrate the accomplishments of the current developer class & more than 2,000 alumni. We're looking forward to opening a new Academy in Bali to support even more developers. Thank you Indonesia for a great visit! pic.twitter.com/X9tuOghOgL

Moving to Singapore, Cook began his visit by being shown around Gardens by the Bay, an extensive tourist area immediately next to the distinctive Apple Marina Bay Sands store.
So happy to be back in Singapore! Brilliant photographer @leeyikkeat showed me around the beautiful Gardens by the Bay. Seeing this iconic spot through the lens of YK's iPhone 15 Pro Max, made it even more special. pic.twitter.com/2GEFt4VNtw

At time of writing, Cook's latest post features his visit to a Cerebral Palsy Alliance School school.
At Apple, we believe technology should be made for everyone. It was powerful to see students and educators at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance School Singapore using our accessibility features, like Switch Control and Live Speech, to help learn, communicate, and create. pic.twitter.com/AVFLBVZgPQ

Cook's visit to Singapore, and Apple's expansion in the area, comes more than 40 years after the company first began manufacturing in the country. In 1981, Singapore itself was only 16 years old, and Apple started producing the Apple II there.
