Long before Beats by Dre introduces its expected update to the Powerbeats Pro, the original version has disappeared from Apple's digital store shelves.
In September, Apple subsidiary Beats by Dre announced that an update to the Powerbeats Pro was on the way sometime in 2025. In mid-October Apple and Beats stopped selling the original model.
Searches for Powerbeats Pro in Apple's online store in the US and UK does not come up with the product, MacRumors reports, though other Beats items do still appear. Beats' website also doesn't list the Powerbeats Pro among its selection of earphones.
While there is no official announcement that the model has been discontinued, it is usually a sign that Apple wants to move on to the newer model relatively soon. However, Apple hasn't said exactly when to expect the new Powerbeats Pro 2 to arrive.
For the moment, searches of third-party retailers do still show stocks of the Powerbeats Pro are still available.
Introduced in 2019, the Powerbeats Pro offered a way to listen to music while working out, without the risk of earbuds flying away. As well as a silicone tip, the Powerbeats Pro also had an earhook to anchor it in place.
The teases for the new Powerbeats Pro indicate it will have the same general design as the original, though there are no hints about any new features like ANC.

Hope the new models have smaller ear hooks. It doesn't need to wrap around the ears like a pair of glasses. Just wrap around the very top of the ear. So about 1/3rd shorter of an ear hook.
