Entry-level iPad to be updated in early 2025

The 10th generation iPad came in multiple colors in 2022

Last updated

Following updates to the rest of the iPad lineup during 2024, the lowest-cost model is now expected to see a refresh in spring of 2025.

The regular iPad was last updated in October 2022, and this 10th generation model had its price cut to $349 in May 2024. It's now the last iPad to see an update, but according to Bloomberg, the 11th generation iPad will be released in the spring.

It's claimed that the iPad will have at least approximately the same design as the 10th generation. It will, though, be faster, although it's not known what processor will be used.

The 11th generation iPad is likely to launch at roughly the same time as Apple brings out a new iPad Air and the expected iPhone SE 4.

That will mark under a year between updates for the iPad Air. It's not expected that the iPad Pro will see a similar update cycle, and instead will most likely be updated with an M5 processor in late 2025 or early 2026.

Separately, it's recently been claimed that the iPad mini will be updated to use an OLED display. However, that's not expected until at least 2026.

Are we thinking the baby iPad will use an A series or M series processor?

According to my research, the regular iPad models, like the current 10th generation, use Apple’s A-series chips rather than the more powerful M-series, which are kept for iPad Pro and some iPad Air models. The next iPad update, expected in spring, will likely stay with an A-series chip, possibly the A15 or A16, offering a speed boost while keeping it distinct from higher-end iPads.
